Essex Wildlife Trust return to Harwich’s Redoubt Fort
19 MAR 2017
The Essex Wildlife Trust returned to Harwich’s Redoubt Fort on Sunday as Tony Wisby led Trust members on a coastal walk around Harwich and Dovercourt.
The Essex Wildlife Trust visited the Redoubt Fort last year and were so impressed they decided to come back again this year.
Harwich Society chairman, Colin Farnell, says, “It is a great tribute to the Harwich Society’s Redoubt Fort team that it is maintained in such excellent condition and is such a fascinating visitor attraction. The views alone are stunning and the Essex Wildlife Trust are one of many groups who consider it worth visiting more than once.”
The Trust group of walkers were greeted by Harwich Society volunteers, Brian Avis, Janet Rice, Brian Theobald and Christine Theobald and were given a guided tour of the Napoleonic fort by John Theobald.
John Theobald says, “It is always a great pleasure to welcome visitors and it was lovely to see the Essex Wildlife Trust again. We are very proud of the Redoubt Fort and it is nice to know that they consider it to be very special as well.”
